Shortly after my contract with Fairbanks my wife became very ill so I have had the rewarding yet
challenging role of raising our newborn son Robin, whilst also seeking work.
Looking after Robin was punctuated by short intervals of free time, I used these short intervals to study HTML, CSS and SQL as well as further my knowlege of project management. Longer intervals of free time would be used looking for work using the internet.
I applied what I had learnt about HTML to create this website and the one in the link below that marketed our property.
Following this I learnt more about JAVA and JAVA SWING and researched developing mobile phone applications using
J2ME
. I also studied UML and JAVA design patterns and how to apply these to what I was doing.
I applied this knowlege to develop a 3D applet, a JAVA application that adds a watermark to images as well as a JAVA application to estimate annual levels of sunshine from data from a nearby weather station.
I have also designed and developed a fast integer-maths 3D graphics engine for mobile phone
gaming that will run on mobile phones that do not in built 3D graphics support
(
JSR 184). This uses a scene graph so that articulated structures can be created (and easily moved) and also has level of detail management so that items in the distance render using less resources.
