On starting at BAE Systems Detica I was immediately put to use as a member of a large team of developers on a major development project. I had to understand the functional specifications assigned to me then develop JAVA code and unit tests that met those requirements.

Following the setting up of a new support department in Leeds I was moved into a team that provided third line support for live web services. To fullfill this client facing role I received training in ITIL as well as TIBCO Activematrix Buisnessworks middleware.

On obtaining security clearance I began supporting several other web services with some very high profile clients. The role involved communicating with clients, producing bug fixes to JAVA and RUBY code, constructing SQL queries and performing releases.

At Detica I became accustomed to working with Linux servers and learnt a wide range of technologies.
